I think...Thanks for your gracious response Andrew.

I think the best way for me to answer your points is to do so in a series of blogs over the next few days.

Today I dea;l with the charge of Israeli expansionism.

MikeMike Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02475677258430349492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8846031455080482087.post-20983115801989975142010-01-12T02:16:28.838-08:002010-01-12T02:16:28.838-08:00Thanks Mike for your review of my book. I would li...Thanks Mike for your review of my book. I would like to respond if I may? Firstly, I hope I have now corrected most spelling mistakes in the current print version.

Is Israel expansionist? In making this claim I am simply looking at how the State of Israel has expanded its borders since 1948 with Palestinian areas reducing in size as Jewish settlements are established and expanded. That I think is factually correct.

Nationalistic? It is possible to love a state without being nationalistic. As a British citizen I love my country, but hopefully not in a nationalistic sense. I am simply saying that those who love the State of Israel need to do so in a non-nationalistic sense.

Apartheid? I have said that use of such language is unhelpful do your claim is factually wrong here.

Restrictions on evangelism? I have heard Christian Zionists express concern about such restrictions, and that western evangelicals are often expelled if caught witnessing. If you have other or better information about the current legal situation then please forward it to me and I will incorporate it in a revised edition.

I praise God for 15,000 Messianic Jews, but that it is a long way from being an influence upon the state. Uncritical support for the Israeli state by some American Christian Zionists doesn’t encourage the state to listen to the voice of the Messianic Jews who are seeking fellowship with Palestinian Christians.

The book is confusing? If you accept that the evidence in chapter 4 is compelling, then you have to ask what follows. Some of this is admittedly counter intuitive to Christian Zionist’ thinking because they see the State of Israel as a legitimate spiritual entity. I know how CZs think because I was in that position myself for many years, but I re-evaluated my thinking from a carefully study of Scripture and for reasons given in the introduction of the book.

Replacement theology? If the church is seen in part as ethnically Israel then that cannot be a replacement of Israel but is instead a theology of continuity.Dissentershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13052264110134848970noreply@blogger.com
